The Core Principles of Wing Tsun KungFu
Simplicity, Efficiency and Practical Application – The Core of Wing Tsun
Wing Tsun KungFu is an effective Chinese martial art designed for quick and instinctive self-defense, utilizing the opponent’s strength and neutralizing attacks with minimal effort.
Wing Tsun is based on lightning-fast speed, technique, and strategy rather than physical strength, making it suitable for both men and women.
For centuries, Wing Tsun KungFu has been passed down from master to chosen disciple, ensuring the preservation of its authentic techniques.
Today, this martial art—originally created by a woman over 300 hundred years ago—is freely available in Wing Tsun KungFu schools worldwide, promoted by renowned masters.
In the training you will learn the principles of Wing Tsun, e.g. how to stand in relation to an opponent, how to defen and strike at the same time. How to take the initiative and lead the fight.
You will be shown exercises to learn these principles which can be practiced with a partner.
One of the most influential figures in Wing Tsun history is Grandmaster Yip Man, who popularized the art in Hong Kong in the mid-20th century. His student, Bruce Lee, later became a martial arts legend.
Other masters, such as GM Yip Man student Si-Jo Leung Ting now is the only one great master and his disciple Si-Kung Maday Norbert, have further refined Wing Tsun techniques, ensuring their authenticity and effectiveness remain intact to this day.
One of the GM Maday Norbert students Si-Fu Linas Gudonavičius, the head of the Baltic Wing Tsun KungFu Association.
In 2025, Si-Fu Linas Gudonavičius founded the Nordic Wing Tsun Association (NWTA) and serves as its President. The association is dedicated to developing and promoting authentic Leung Ting Wing Tsun Kung Fu across the Nordic countries, establishing new schools, educating instructors, and strengthening cooperation between the regional Wing Tsun communities.
Today, together with his teacher Si-Kung Norbert Máday, Si-Fu Linas Gudonavičius is leading the revival and expansion of Leung Ting Wing Tsun KungFu in the Nordic countries, building a strong foundation for the art’s continued growth in Northern Europe.
